Second DigiPack Analysis

 On the front cover, Rihanna's facial expression with her tongue out presents her as promiscuous, however the way she is looking up through her brow with her head tilted forwards makes her appear as if she is in control, possibly showing her to be sexually domineering, both of these are aspects which would attract her male audience. As well, this shows her to be powerful and independent, something which a female audience would admire, possibly creating her to be a role model.

 On the back cover, again she looks up through her hair, making her appear as a raunchy temptress. The way she has dropped her jacket off her shoulders suggests she is about to remove her clothes, intensifying the sexual nature of the picture.

     
 The use of black and white (greyscale) is a regular convention in the R&B genre. In this case, I think the black is used to symbolise style, power and sexuality, whilst the white ironically represents purity. The slight use of the colour red - her nails, her lips, her name on the side and the track list - is a portrayal of the love, passion and desire about her as a person, as well as in her album.

 The combination of the greyscale, the sexual images, the font use and the use of the colour red reflects the gritty and lustful style of the artist. Additonally, the front cover is in colour whilst the back cover is greyscale, this represents the diversity of the artists msuical abilities.

 The artists genre is visible through the use of greyscale, as it is a convetion of R&B. The clothing she is wearing, such as the suspenders, and the promiscuous facial expression heightens the sexuality of the images, which is a regular convention for female R&B - as well as Pop - artists. 

 On the packaging, the artists image dominates the cover. Especially on the front as the title is featured in small as a tattoo on her arm which represents someone who is raucnhy and rebellious. Instead of her name, just the letter R is included. It follows the generic conventions of album artwork. On the back cover, the tracklist is in small on the side and the albums small print in smaller on the other side, so rihanna's picture is in the centre as the main focus.

 The title of the album is 'Talk That Talk', insinuating sexually flirtacious talk. This links to the image on the front cover as she is holding a promiscuous pose with her tongue on her lips, and to add to this, her hand being on her head could be used as a symbol for pleasure.

Digi Pack Analysis

  This Digipack is one of the covers for Beyonce's third studio album 'I Am... Sasha Fierce', relating to the idea of her having an alter ego. The first image shows the artist to be naked - without make-up ,clothes or jewellery - representing her to be quite vulnerable. However, this also evokes the idea that she is revealing her true self to her fans.  The fourth side is reflective of Beyonce's 'Diva' image, as she is now wearing full make-up, her hair is styled and she's wearing 'glamorous' clothing. Yet, in this image, the gold in her clothing is visible, reinforcing the 'Diva' idea. These two contrasting views of the singer are in support of the reason behind the album's title.

 Most of the Digipack is featured in greyscale. Being presented in black and white implies the idea that the artist can now be seen clearly, showing her truthfully. The first image of Beyonce is displayed paler, whilst the second image appears to be darker, clearly representative of her personality differences. The second and third sides are just 'BEYONCE' written in silver, with a sort of spotlight shone on them, showing her to be under the limelight. Additionally, the backgrounds are black and white, these opposite colours confirm the idea of her split personality, suggesting the album to show both sides of the singer. "Sasha Fierce is done. I killed her," she confessed. "I don't need Sasha Fierce anymore, because I've grown and now I'm able to merge the two."

 The direct opposites in the colours and the photos, demonstrate the artists range of ability. Portraying her as a strong performer, for example; she can perform various genres, mostly R&B but also Pop, Soul and Hip-Hop, as well as her ability to master both slow and uptempo songs.

 Her 'Diva' portrayal in the last image, displays the album clearly as 'R&B'. As the 'Diva' image is a convention of the R&B Genre. Also, the greyscale effect is associated with R&B music as it is reflected as emotional, and strong emotions - especially love - are related with R&B music.

 The packaging is laid out like a book, with the 'BEYONCE' sides in the centre where the CD is situated and the photos of Beyonce on the front and back. The front cover features the title, and the back cover has the track list.  

 The album is titled 'I Am... Sasha Fierce'. The two contrasting images of her support the title, as it gives the idea of two seperate personalities. The CD itself is in dual disc format, so the discs represent the contradictory personality and musical style. The first disc, I Am..., incorporates slow and mid-tempo R&B and pop ballads. Whilst the second disc, Sasha Fierce, named after Beyonce's on-stage alter ego, contains uptempo dance songs.


 The singer is portrayed as beautiful through the images of her, showing her to be natural as well as glamorous, which would attract her female fans. Her name written in silver and capital letters with a shine on it, that resembles a spot light makes her appear to be powerful and important.

Production Day 5

South Bank

 Today we re-filmed the flashback scenes of their date. We used the HD Video Camera and a large Tripod. Both actors were on time, even though Billy didn't get to South Bank until 15:10 due to a problem on the trains, filming was successful.

Wapping

 Afterwards, we filmed the beginning of the video, which is set as the end of their date as the main artist walks the girl home. Then we filmed the end of the video, the placard scene, where he goes back to her to tell her how he feels. We used the HD Video Camera, large Tripod, LED Strip Light, CD player and the Ten Placards I made on Wednesday. The footage was successful, however our camera was running out of battery and Masuda had to leave at 18:00, so we may have to refilm a few parts.

This is the first set photos we took of our artist against a green screen. We were just experimenting with different poses which we could use for our digi pack and poster.

Production Day 4

Wapping

 Today we refilmed the Performance scenes with our main lead. We used the HD Video Camera, a large Tripod, unfortunately the Steady Cam was broken so we were unable to use that for tracking shots and we used a LED Strip Light to shine on our main lead, in order to prevent the footge being too dark. Filming was due to start at 19:00, however Billy was late and it was too difficult for me to hold both the Light and the Tripod at the same time so filming didn't start until 19:25. As we had already filmed the scene inside the photo booth, I was able to create the photo strip and use this in our filming to indicate the point where our artist has his flash of 'realisation' and goes back to the girl

The Placards

This is what we decided our placards would read. Making them similar to the placards in the love actually scene but then adapting them to use the lyrics in the song.

PhotoBooth Photostrip

This is a photostrip which I created from our footage of the 'photobooth scene'. I print screened the 4 key moments from our filming, which will be the moments when a photo would have been taken, this will be demonstrated by the inclusion of flashes during editing. Using Adobe Illustrator, I produced an old styled photo strip, by pasting the print screened images and scaling them to match.
